Hosting the next International Sheep Veterinary Congress
The purpose of the ISVC is to bring together all veterinarians with an interest in the health, welfare and productivity of sheep - to learn, engage and form enduring collegial relationships. To this end, it is encouraged that bids to host the ISVC come from around the world. To facilitate this, the ISVA provides regulations and guidance on developing and submitting a bid, and if successful, have a successful ISVC that accomplishes all those goals and perhaps even more.
Currently, the ISVC is held every three years but the organization begins much earlier.
- Notification to member countries to solicit a bid, is usually sent out a year or more before the next scheduled ISVC.
- Discussions at the country level should take place to determine if there is an interest in submitting a bid. A core organizing committee should be struck and the ISVC documents (see below) reviewed.
- Six months before the next scheduled ISVC, countries with an interest in bidding, should submit to the ISVA committee, an expression of interest of their intent to bid. sec.isva@gmail.com
- Three months before the next schedule ISVC, the country organizing committee will submit their bid proposal to the ISVA committee.
- All bid proposal documents will be shared with all member countries two months before the next scheduled ISVC. This is to allow sufficient time to review all documents and make an informed decision with regards to voting for the next host of the ISVC.
- Bids will be presented at the ISVA GM, held at the ISVC. Powerpoint presentations (not longer than 20 minutes) may be used to summarize the bid (e.g., location, time, conference venue, nearby sites, pre-conference tours, etc). Voting will take place immediately after the bids are presented.
- The winning bid for the next ISVC will be announced at the end of the conference and the next host country will immediately begin its organization.
ISVA documents that outline the rules and regulations, as well as additional guidance on how to host a successful ISVC should be read carefully both when developing the bid.
